Reinhold Schulz

Chief Executive Officer

Reinhold Schulz is a seasoned pharmaceutical services executive, with a background that spans decades of industry experience. Most recently, he led the Global Site Network at Accelerated Enrollment Solutions, a business of PPD, which is a leading global contract research organization. In this role, he had oversight of more than 160 clinical research sites and 1,300 employees in 15 countries. Prior to this, he served as the Head of Early Development clinical research sites at PPD. Before joining PPD, he spent 17 years at PAREXEL in various roles supporting the company’s clinical research site strategy.

Reinhold holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physiology and a Bachelor’s in Medical Science in Pharmacology from University of Free State, Bloemfontein South Africa.  Reinhold also holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Phoenix.

Jose Alvarez

Chief Operating Officer

Jose Alvarez is a results‐oriented leader focused on driving and improving business value by helping organizations navigate through complex business and organizational challenges. He offers a diversified, 20-year background during which he held senior executive leadership roles in operations, finance, strategy and organizational design within different sectors.

Most recently, he served as Chief Operating and Development Officer for Acorn Health, one the country’s largest clinical providers of applied behavioral analysis therapy given to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. In this role, he led the growth and oversight of 70 treatment centers across the country. Prior to this, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of Costa Farms, North America’s largest manufacturer and distributor of ornamental plants.

Jose began his career in the audit practice of Ernst & Young, one of the country’s largest professional services firms. Jose holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Miami.

Seth J. Baum, MD, FACC, FAHA, FNLA, FASPC

Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Seth J. Baum, Chief Scientific Officer of Flourish Research, is a graduate of Columbia College and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Electrophysiology.  

Dr. Baum is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American College of Preventive Medicine, the National Lipid Association, and the American Society for Preventive Cardiology. He is a past President of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology (ASPC). He currently sits on The Family Heart Foundation LP(a) Advisory Board. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts – many in top-tier journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Lancet, JACC, and Nature – as well as two books.

In 2013, he was awarded Cleveland Heart Lab’s “Heart Award” for lifelong dedication to Preventive Medicine. In 2019, Mended Hearts honored him with its biennial Dwight Emary Harken Award. Dr. Baum is the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Flourish Boca Raton, FL which began as Excel Medical Clinical Trials. As Principal Investigator in novel drug development he has contributed significantly to the advancement of therapeutics in disease states ranging from ultra-rare to common.

Dr. Baum is clinical affiliate professor of Cardiology at FAU Medical School, runs the only lipoprotein apheresis center in southeast Florida, and consults in Clinical Lipidology and Preventive Cardiology.

Ophelia Hill

VP, Human Resources

Ophelia is a seasoned HR strategic executive partner with over 20 years of experience.  She is a results-focused leader who has helped companies channel the full potential of their most valuable assets – their people.

Over the years in various industry sectors, Ophelia has assisted in shaping the core HR employee programs at multiple companies.  While at PAREXEL, she streamlined a new framework for a companywide high-performing culture rollout to implement the newly defined mission, vision, and values.  She championed the transformation of HR into a department that proactively contributed to achieving key business results.  At NEXTera Energy, she served as the labor relations liaison, providing expert-level consultation and interpretation of bargaining unit contracts.  While at Viejas Enterprises, she was instrumental in building the infrastructure and integration of the Senior HR Business Partner model to ensure that HR gained a seat at the table.

Ophelia is a certified mediator and holds Advance Consulting and Crucial Conversation certificates.  She has extensive employee relations experience and provides training, development, and performance management coaching.  She has served on Diversity Councils and is a member of SHRM.  What she considers the greatest accomplishment of her career to date is the contribution made to inspiring corporate culture change that cultivates business growth, while keeping the human factor at the forefront.

Ophelia holds a Bachelor of Business Management and a Master of Business Administration (Global Management Concentration) from the University of Phoenix.   She is fluent in English, Spanish, and conversational German.
