Srishti Bhagat MD, PhD

Principal Investigator, Flourish Research – Charlotte

Dr. Srishti Bhagat is a board-certified neurologist and physician-scientist trained at Duke University and Johns Hopkins, with a strong background in translational neuroscience and the full spectrum of neurological care. She offers a deep understanding of synaptic mechanisms and neurodegenerative disease biology, with specialized clinical interests in dementia, movement disorders, vascular neurology, and neuroimmunology.

Dr. Bhagat’s work has spanned from molecular-level research to a holistic approach to human health and behavior. She completed her MD-PhD training at Duke University, where (mentored by Nicole Calakos, MD, PhD) her research bridged the gap of understanding synapses via whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology to studying the changes in motor behavior and development of movement disorders precipitated by molecular changes.

She completed her neurology residency at Johns Hopkins University, where she trained in the care of medically complex neurological patients while developing a balanced, patient-centered clinical approach. Prior to joining Flourish Research, Dr. Bhagat served as a neurohospitalist at Cone Health, managing a wide range of acute neurological conditions including stroke, status epilepticus, neuroimmune diseases and neurocritical care. She also enjoys medical education, working closely to bring out the best in advanced practice providers and resident physicians.

Dr. Bhagat is passionate about advancing clinical research in collaborative environments that put patient experience at the center. She is committed to careful attention to study design, rigorous data collection and analysis, and continuous process improvement to achieve breakthroughs in patient care.
