Qualified Participants Must:
Basic criteria:
- Be age 22 to 75
- Rheumatoid Arthritis for at least 6 months
- Have active swollen and tender joints
- Inadequate response to medication to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis
Answers Must Be No:
- Do you have a BMI > 35?
- Female participants: Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?
- Do you have a history of or current issues with substance abuse?
- Do you have a history of current severe psychiatric disease?
- Do you have active or latent tuberculosis (TB)?
- Have you undergone a unilateral or bilateral vagotomy? (A surgery to reduce stomach acid secretion, usually done for severe cases of peptic ulcer disease)
- Do you have a known infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV); current acute or chronic hepatitis B or hepatitis C?
- Do you have an active implanted medical device such as a pacemaker?
Answers Must be Yes:
- Have active swollen and tender joints
- Are your medications to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis not working?
- If you are of child-bearing potential are you willing to use acceptable contraception?
- Additional criteria will apply
Compensation up to $5,300 may be available for time and travel
