Basic Criteria:
- Is your child ages 12 to 15?
Answers Must Be No:
- Has your child taken any weight loss medication in the past 90 days (about 3 months)?
- Has your child had any weight loss surgery or have any weight loss surgeries planned?
- Does your child have any history of depression or severe psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder)?
- Has your child had a history of suicidal attempts or behaviors?
- Does your child have T1/T2 diabetes?
- Does your child take any medications that lower your blood sugar?
- If female, is the child pregnant or breastfeeding?
- Has your child participated in an interventional clinical study in the past 90 days (about 3 months)?
- Is anyone in your household participating in other semaglutide studies?
- Does your child have a history of chronic pancreatitis?
- Has your child had any acute pancreatitis in the past 180 days (about 6 months)?
- Does your child have personal or family history (first-degree relatives) of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 or medullary thyroid carcinoma?
- Has your child had cancer (other than basal or squamous cell skin cancer) in the past 5 years?
- Does your child have known or suspected abuse of alcohol or recreational drugs?
- Additional criteria will apply
Answers Must Be Yes:
- Is your child heavier than their peers or do you know if they are in the 95th percentile for weight?
- Do you and your child both agree for the child to participate in the study?
- Does your child have a history of at least one unsuccessful effort to lose sufficient body weight?
- Are you able to read and understand study directions?
- If your female child has started her menstrual cycle, do you agree to use contraception?
